Landscape Planner/Certified Horticultural Therapist
About Sharri
Horticulture and Landscaping has been an underlying theme in my life. I incorporated Horticultural Therapy into my professional life 12 years ago, after studying and attaining Certification from the NY Botanical Gardens. Gardening improves physical health and produces nutritious homegrown results, both edible and sensory. Its’ therapeutic benefits are abundant – relaxation and stress relief benefiting both the mental and emotional wellbeing. It provides support, compassion and a bit of love to receptive participants.
Quote:
Hammocks on the Edisto provides a unique opportunity for its’ healing patients. The positive outcomes in a natural setting encourages the women to get their hands dirty as part of their recovery. There is a pride and feeling of fulfillment that makes them receptive to opening up and exuding positive energy.
I personally identify as a person in Recovery for 23 years. Being of service to these women provides me with the ability to share my experiences in Landscaping, Design and Recovery while listening to theirs. Personally, for me, it is the ultimate “spiritual wink”.
“I believe in the strength of faith, hope and love as guiding influences for recovery. I am honored to be part of a great team serving those pursuing recovery, and am eager to assist our residents on their journey through the treatment process and subsequent healing.”
