Who We Are

Hammocks on the Edisto is a one-of-a-kind, privately owned & operated women’s treatment center.

About Hammocks Recovery

At Hammocks on the Edisto, we’re committed to the long-term health of every woman in our treatment program. As a result, we work each day to ensure that we are providing the best possible care that we tailor to each woman’s needs. Using a holistic treatment approach in a community environment that addresses addiction as a chronic mental health condition, rather than an isolated event, we strive to give each woman the support she needs for a brighter future. If you have addiction recovery questions about our treatment staff or admissions process, call our substance abuse treatment program today at 833.793.0191 to learn more about Hammocks on the Edisto. Additionally, take a look at our gallery and read our testimonials here.

Location Is Everything

Situated near beautiful Charleston, Hammocks’ location is ideal for day trips designed to enrich the treatment experience, exploring sober recreational activities that residents can engage in on their recovery journey.

Charleston, South Carolina is known for its beauty, and rich history, but that’s not all it has to offer. The Condè Nast Traveler Magazine voted Charleston one of the Best Cities in the U.S., as well as making the top ten list for Best Hotels in the U.S., and Top Resorts.

Our residents also enjoy what the entire Charleston community has to offer. Our off-site experiences are just as important as the on-site experiences as they help prepare our residents for life after treatment!

Our Mission

The mission of Hammocks on the Edisto is to provide a supportive and enriching environment in which women can begin the healing process of recovery from substance use disorders. Consequences are the natural result of the choices we make, and as we learn to make better choices through guidance and example, our lives become more meaningful. We believe that women are at the very core of our families and society, and so, as we strengthen each woman individually, we strengthen our world.

Our Values

Empowering women to find recovery from substance use disorders.

Hammocks on the Edisto will:

  • Deliver a safe, positive, and healthy atmosphere for treatment and growth.

Women's Stories of Hope

The Hammocks is a wonderful and life changing place. Everyone working here is warm, welcoming, and helpful. The Clinical staff is truly exceptional. I am going home a mentally healthy person looking forward to a happy & meaningful life.

Alli O.

This facility is like no other. Every Staff member was knowledgeable and friendly. Being a small group (15 max), I formed a bond with the other residents like I had never experienced before. This place saved my life.

Jill J.

Hammocks is truly a special place. Everything from the staff, therapists, activities, food, location/view/house, resources etc. were top-notch. I had an incredible experience and highly recommend this spot. 10/10.

Darcy W.

The most incredible treatment facility ever! They offer a holistic approach centered in therapy, science, and female empowerment. Eric, Sarah, Jonas, Katie, and all of the other staff offer a level of compassion that I’ve never seen before in any treatment facility. And that says a lot coming from a child of two addicts who have been in and out of facilities my entire life. They are always available and respond quickly to any questions or discussions you may bring up. The family groups were amazing and I miss them every week. They truly care and believe that recovery is possible for all!

Rhapsody C.

My wife spent a month at the Hammocks and I have nothing but incredible things to say about the facility. The help and therapy she received has truly been life changing for our family. From the day I called to discuss admission, Jonas, the director, made himself immediately available to any questions or concerns I had. Throughout her stay, I participated in multiple family sessions a week with Sarah or Eric who were both excellent. They were kind and accepting, but also thought-provoking and challenging. Not to mention, the whole facility is absolutely beautiful. I would highly recommend the Hammocks to any family in need of a recovery center.

Erica U.

This facility has absolutely saved my life. It is secluded, peaceful, beautiful, and a lovely gone environment that makes external and internal healing much easier to tackle. Being away from family and doing the intense work needed for recovery is hard enough in any environment but the Hammocks makes you feel like you are nothing shy of family. You are treated with respect and kindness, and your needs are listened to and accommodated and the staff is so loving and supportive.

Krista B.

As a therapist at Hammocks on the Edisto, I am so proud to be a part of this great team of caring professionals. Being directly involved in the process of change for our clients is a honor. The facility is beautiful and inviting and provides a healthy environment for our residents to thrive. The programming is like nothing I’ve been part of before. From our comprehensive and diverse group sessions, the wellness and yoga component, our individual therapy, medical and nursing care, nutrition and on site chef, and a great team of recovery associates, we collectively provide a great recovery experience.

Eric H.

Hammocks on the Edisto is a dream come true in so many ways. This is a unique place where women can progress on their journey to recovery surrounded by the beauty of the South Carolina Lowcountry and supported by a team of compassionate expert providers. Offerings beyond talk therapy include yoga, cooking demonstrations, adventures to local parks and beaches, and wellness coaching. The facility is never over crowded and each woman gets lots of personalized care. The healing potential is felt as soon as you drive down the long private driveway to the house. Highly recommend.

Kate A.

I was able to rediscover myself and my inner light. It was diminished for too many years and Hammocks has helped me health from the inside out. I am prepared for my future and content with my recovery and life.

H. G.

My stay here at Hammocks has been life changing. I will never forget all of the staff and women here who have made my journey successful. Without all of you I would still be broken. Love to all.

Tracey

My time at the Hammocks was an absolute blessing and saved my life. This magical place on the water is beautiful, safe, and peaceful. I have made lifelong connections and relationships with all of the strong women I have met here. From the counselors and therapists, to the chef and housekeeping, Hammocks allowed me to really get vulnerable while making me feel right at home. I will always remember the amazing and calming energy, from the moment I walked through the door and will always utilize the life changing tools that were given to me during my stay. Hammocks has changed my outlook on life and has me excited to see what the future holds for my recovery!

O.F.

The Hammocks was transformative for me. It helped save my life. Their holistic approach to recovery addresses the mind, body and spirit. A variety of people that work there have experienced recovery, making them able to connect in ways others can't. It's truly a unique program.

Emily R.

I have been to other IP treatment facilities and the Hammocks is by far the best! The therapists are top notch and provide intensive treatment involving all aspects of mental health and addiction. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the women have become like family.

Michele C.

Hammocks saved my life. This place, staff, and residents helped me heal, grow and I’ve seen a version of myself that i’ve never known. Thank you, always.

Danielle J.

Hammocks truly changed my life and my perspective on trauma and recovery. The therapists and groups were helpful like no other treatment center i’ve been to. Thank you Hammocks!

Caroline W.

The Hammocks not only saved my life, but taught me a new way to live. Emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I owe it all to the Hammocks facility and staff. I would recommend anyone to this special place

Lauren M.

I arrived to the Hammocks in a horrible depressive episode, bad relapse, and incredibly hopeless and suicidal. This place has given me space ot learn, grow, and be my authentic self. Thanks to the help of the staff, therapists, and fellow residents, I am leaving The Hammocks with a better relationship to myself, a desire to stay sober, and feeling hopeful for the first time in years. Thank you!

Clover D.

My friend told me about the Hammocks when i was unsure if inpatient treatment was fdor me. The thirty day stay was worth every minute! There was not one moment that i did not learn from during my HOTE journey and i am leaving here as a much stronger and healthier version of myself.

Morgan C.

I entered the big yellow door at the Hammocks on the Edisto not knowing what to expect and it has turned out to be a life changing experience. This place is special and unique, someplace i will never forget.

Adriana F.

“Hammocks was not my first treatment center but I'm so hopeful that it will be my last. The location is beautiful which is perfect for the mindfulness I was taught. Not only did they provide guidance through my substance abuse, the individual therapy sessions opened up & explored my mental emotions & past traumas. I finally feel free & thrilled to continue to work (one day at a time) toward long term recovery.”

Amy L.

“I came to Hammocks with Alcoholism and a strong case of PTSD. After 30 days of intensive therapy, I finally felt a genuine sense of joy in my heart for being cancer free. I accept the botched surgeries and my new front I was left with. Thank you so much to the entire staff here!”

Lori P.

“I came here in a crisis with nowhere else to go and everything was great. I was greeted by the staff immediately, went through admissions and then to my room - very comfy. The house, food & view are wonderful.”

M.O.

“My stay at the Hammocks has been one of the hardest things I have ever done, and it has also been one of the most valuable and rewarding times in my life. I have learned so much about my disease & how to move forward in my recovery.”

Michelle M.

“I didn't know what to expect for my first 30 day inpatient facility and all female. I never imagined I would receive so much support, love, and education within 30 days! It is an intense 30 days & nights, and the best therapies I have ever received; which have started my sober foundation.”

A.R.

“I came here in denial - I learned a had a problem. I have been dealing with grief for over 30 years - I am able to remember the person I grieved in a positive way through EMDR.”

D.D.

“Hammocks is by far the best treatment I've ever received. The staff, counselors, nurses, yoga, food. Everything was amazing. The women here care. I’ve grown so much and I couldn't have done it without the support I received here. I am forever grateful.” - Spencer L.

Spencer L.

“I was in a very bad spot before the Hammocks. The tools ive gained, the people ive met, and the care ive received make me confident I can live a full life. I'm happier and more confident than I have been in a very long time.”

Sarah T.

“I would not seek out any other treatment option, nor would i recommend that to loved ones. Hammocks offers help in beginning recovery and the staff sends you out into the world with very realistic, exciting, and thorough after-care opportunities for continued recovery.”
