About Sarah
Originally from Terre Haute, Indiana, Sarah moved to the Low Country in 2019. Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science in English Literature, with Minors in Creative Writing and Psychology in 2007 and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2010. Sarah began her career as a mental health counselor in 2010 with a professional license as an LMHC in Indiana and currently has an L.P.C. in South Carolina. Sarah has also worked with a wide range of ages and clientele as a direct care staff and case manager. Alongside her professional career, Sarah has co-led a monthly community poetry reading and accompanying annual journal project for ten years.
Sarah’s clinical experience began as an A.C.T. team lead clinician with a focus on serving those in my community with psychotic disorders. She then extended her scope of practice to include outpatient care, home-based, school-based, non-profit clinic, acute inpatient, worker’s compensation, and residential settings.
Sarah is grateful for the ability to share her knowledge of mental health and love for the written word and all its processes at Hammocks on the Edisto. After all, literature is a study of the living condition, and helping others navigate their personal narratives brings her great joy.
“We are hardly ever as strong as that which we create.”
