About Carrie
Carrie teaches yoga 5 days a week at The Hammocks on the Edisto. She also teaches classes at Community Yoga in Charleston, SC. Her favorite moment in a yoga class is that subtle moment when students shift from being inside their heads and into their bodies- That’s when all the
magic happens!
Carrie discovered yoga 25 years ago when she stumbled across a Rodney Yee VHS video. What
had started as a way to unwind after work, slowly became a daily practice for her. Whether she was taking a class at her favorite yoga studio or following a video at home, Carrie quickly realized that yoga was so much more than a physical exercise. Yoga provided a safe space to
move, breathe, explore, and study the intricacies of the mind, body, and soul. Over the past 25
years, yoga has become a way of life for Carrie.
In 2020, Carrie received her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training with a focus on Power Yoga. Since then her training and practice has expanded to Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yoga for Sobriety (combines yoga with the 12 steps), and she recently completed her Reiki level I and Level II certification and is currently working on the of her Reiki Master certification. Carrie is also a school psychologist for Charleston County School District. She specializes with working with adolescents at West Ashely High School. Carrie believes it truly is an honor and a privilege to help individuals develop and increase self-awareness and use their individual strengths and limitations to create personal growth.
Carrie believes that life is an energetic balance of strength, flexibility, effort, and ease. In her
classes, you can expect a combination of strength, mobility, deep stretch, rest, and self-study.
“We are hardly ever as strong as that which we create.”
