About Amanda
I am originally from Charlotte, NC, having lived also in New Orleans, Asheville, and Raleigh. I earned a B.A. from Tulane, an M.S.W. from University of North Carolina, and a B.S.N. from Medical University of South Carolina. I have been working in the mental health and medical fields for 15 years, and I now work as a Registered Nurse at Hammocks. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my awesome 4-year-old daughter, reading, running, climbing, and exploring nature. I count myself very blessed to have a simple, “boring” life today, free from institutions, and free from alcohol and drugs. I also count myself blessed to have the opportunity to work here at Hammocks. For many reasons, it is hard for women to seek treatment. It can be easy for women to forget about the daily importance of self-care and self-compassion, when, in reality, these things are necessary for survival. Hammocks provides a variety of tools for women to embrace recovery and self-care whole-heartedly. The approach here is holistic and integrates evidence-based therapies, trauma recovery, medicine, and wellness, all delivered by experienced staff with a compassionate approach.
“I believe in the strength of faith, hope and love as guiding influences for recovery. I am honored to be part of a great team serving those pursuing recovery, and am eager to assist our residents on their journey through the treatment process and subsequent healing.”
